The first most important date of my life would be when everything shut down for covid. Covid was something new and nobody knew anything about it, that's what made it even scarier. When we got the email that we would be out of school for 2 weeks, I was excited. The only thing I could think about was being off from school with no homework or class work to do. I didn't think about what the future might hold for businesses and what I would be able to do while being off from school. The first couple days were pretty fun as I got to hangout with friends and do whatever, but then when everything started shutting down, the fun was over. For about a month or so I did not go anywhere. What once was the longest vacation from school, turned into the worst punishment ever. This was one of the most important times in my life because it really sticks out in my mind, and affected more people than just me. Another important date in my life was when my grandmother passed away. On December 2nd of 2021, my grandmother passed while I was finishing up my first semester of college. She had been ill for quite a while but this took me by surprise. People are never ready for someone so close to them to leave and never come back. I always thought I would get to see her or talk to her or even just hear her before she left, I was not. Going through this while I was at school for my first semester was very hard for me. I learned a lot of things from her passing, but nothing is more important than cherishing the time you have with the people you love. You never know when that time will be taken. Finally, the last important date in my life would be when I graduated high school. That was a very exciting time for me because I was about to go off on my own at college. I was leaving my friends and family behind and going to make new friends and get a fresh start at a place where nobody even knew my name. This was quite the challenge but I enjoyed every step of the way. I also started dating my girlfriend around the same time as i was graduating high school and we have had the best time together. We made long distance work for the first part of college but then she transferred to Christopher Newport and it has made things a lot easier. If I could relive one day of my life I would relive the day that I killed my first buck. I have been hunting my whole life and it took me 10 years to finally harvest one that was big enough. My dad always told me I could not shoot it unless the deer's horns were wider than its ears and had a large body. By large body he meant the stomach was hanging down, there was no muscle definition, and gray on his face. I finally got my chance when I was 15 years old. What made it even better was it was my own dog that was running the deer. I was so proud of my dog (Molly) and myself, and it made it better that I got to share this memory with my dad and brother. I have been hunting with them ever since I could go and it was a dream come true to harvest the deer with them there. I interviewed my girlfriend Hailey Quinn and asked her what was the most important date of her life. She said that when she transferred from Coastal Carolina to Christopher Newport was the most important. She explained that it was the most important decision she has ever made because it was going to determine the rest of her college education and her job when she gets out of college. This date is similar to mine because it was on a personal level instead of a national level, like covid or a terrorist attack.
